Supplier selection adds fresh charge to Faradair s BEHA hybrid programme | News

By Dominic Perry2020-12-18T13:03:00+00:00 UK start-up Faradair Aerospace will shortly begin a two-year engineering effort as it works to integrate a newly selected propulsion system into the first prototype of its BEHA hybrid-electric aircraft. In addition, the Duxford airfield-based company is continuing its efforts to secure the estimated £1 billion ($1.3 billion) required to bring the BEHA – or Bio Electric Hybrid Aircraft – into production. Source: Faradair BEHA will arrive from 2026 On 17 December Faradair announced it had selected Honeywell to supply the BEHA’s turbogenerator, avionics and flight-control systems, while Magnix is to provide Magni500 electric motors – two for each aircraft – plus control systems.

Faradair signs new partners for BEHA hybrid

Faradair signs new partners for BEHA hybrid 18th December 2020 14:59 Europe/London British hybrid-electric start-up Faradair Aerospace has attracted a consortium of partners to help it deliver its new Bio Electric Hybrid Aircraft (BEHA). They include Honeywell, magniX, Cambridge Consultants and Nova Systems. Faradair will work with Honeywell on the BEHA turbogenerator, comprised of Honeywell’s gas turbine and generator technologies as well as other technologies, including avionics and flight control systems. The BEHA will use two magni500 e-motors and magniDrive control system technology for flight propulsion. Cambridge Consultants, a leader in R&D engineering, brings expertise in hybrid propulsion architecture to the development of the BEHA’s hybrid propulsion system, integrating the turbine and flight e-motors.

Faradair chooses MagniX for electric aircraft project

By Pilar Wolfsteller2020-12-18T01:49:00+00:00 US electric propulsion specialist MagniX will collaborate with UK-based Faradair Aerospace to deliver an 18-seat Bio Electric Hybrid Aircraft (BEHA) by 2026, giving the sustainable aircraft sector a good-news boost during an otherwise bleak year for aerospace. The new BEHA will use two Magni500 e-motors and associated MagniDrive control system technology for flight propulsion, the companies say on 17 December. Faradair plans to build 300 examples of the aircraft. “This shows we are on the right track,” MagniX chief executive Roei Ganzarski tells FlightGlobal. “Electric being the future of aviation is clearly the right notion because more and more companies are choosing to go down that path.”

Faradair Aerospace Targets 300 Bio Electric Hybrid Aircraft by 2030

Faradair Aerospace Targets 300 Bio Electric Hybrid Aircraft by 2030 (17 Dec 2020) Faradair Aerospace has put together a powerful consortium of partners to bring large scale aircraft production to the UK. The ambitious British start-up, headed by aviation entrepreneur Neil Cloughley and based at the historic airfield at IWM Duxford, Cambridgeshire, is aiming to deliver 300 of its new Bio Electric Hybrid Aircraft (BEHA) by 2030. Partners include Honeywell, magniX, Cambridge Consultants and Nova Systems. Faradair will work with Honeywell on the BEHA turbogenerator, comprised of Honeywell’s gas turbine and generator technologies, with the ability to run on sustainable aviation fuel, to support the hybrid-electric aircraft design in addition
