(John Ferak/Joliet Patch) JOLIET, IL If you were looking forward to a dd s Discounts store opening at the North Ridge Plaza along Larkin Avenue, then prepare yourself for some bad news. It now looks like dd s Discounts may not be expanding to Joliet, after all. Back in February, Joliet Patch reported that a sign company had just installed a new marquee for dd s Discounts at the large shopping plaza along Larkin Avenue that also includes Office Max, Hobby Lobby and Ross Dress For Less.

Students Could Make Bank Donating Plasma After Having COVID-19

State College plasma donation centers BioLife Plasma Services are offering compensation to Penn State students who have had COVID-19 and are willing to donate their plasma. Antibodies that could be used to fight COVID-19 are located in the plasma of those who’ve already had the virus. Once donated, plasma can be used for immunotherapy that gives people, specifically high-risk patients, a better chance of fighting off the virus. A recent Penn State-led study discovered that those who want to donate their convalescent plasma after contracting the COVID-19 virus have about 60 days from the start of their symptoms to donate. This research study also found that the prime donors are those who are older than 30 and had severe symptoms.

BioLife Plasma Services Announces Expansion of Plasma Donation Centers Into California

Posted on 234 BioLife Plasma Services, part of the global biopharmaceutical company Takeda, today announced the opening of a new plasma center in Moreno Valley, CA, to help meet the urgent need for plasma donations which has become even greater during the pandemic. Plasma donations received at BioLife centers are used by Takeda to make established therapies that treat a range of rare and complex conditions for which there is often no alternative treatment.
