Kentucky State Police Conducts Death Investigation in Pike County

/ WSIP AM 1490 | CBS Sports Apr 14, 2021 9:03 PM The Kentucky State Police Pikeville Post received a 911 call on Tuesday, April 13, 2021, regarding a shooting in Pike County. KSP troopers and investigators responded to a residence on Mossy Bottom Lane where they discovered one man had been shot. The initial investigation indicated Victoria Ray and Bobby Mccown were involved in an altercation.  During the incident, Victoria Ray discharged a firearm, striking Mccown. Bobby Mccown suffered a gunshot wound and was transported to Pikeville Medical Center where he later was pronounced deceased. Detective Ryan Hamilton is leading the investigation. He was assisted on scene by KSP personnel, Pike County Sheriff’s Office, and Lifeguard Ambulance Service.

Rich Egger As the McDonough County Health Department prepares to hold a mass vaccination clinic on Saturday, the agency is urging people to remain vigilant about following the protocols designed to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. “Our test positivity for a seven-day rolling average for McDonough County is currently at 4.2%. That was at 1% several weeks ago. So we are seeing a spike in cases,” said Ben Thompson, Emergency Response Coordinator for the McDonough and Schuyler County Health Departments. “We would like to remind people that testing is still available. If you have symptoms of it, please get tested, please consult your primary care physician because COVID is still here.”

KSP troopers and investigators responded to a residence on Bucks Branch where they discovered two men had been shot. The initial investigation indicated Racheal Hamilton, Brian Shepherd, and Jacob Hamilton were involved in an altercation.  During the incident Racheal Hamilton discharged a firearm striking Shepherd and also wounding Jacob. Brian Shepherd suffered a gunshot wound and was transported to Cabell Huntington Hospital where he is listed in critical condition. Jacob Hamilton suffered a gunshot wound and was transported to Pikeville Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

KSP troopers and investigators responded to a residence on Chloe Road where they discovered a property dispute between neighbors had led to an altercation and one man shot. The initial investigation indicated Jerry Coleman discharged a firearm during the altercation with five individuals. David Taylor suffered a gunshot wound and was transported to Pikeville Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Jerry Coleman was transported by Lifeguard Ambulance Service to Pikeville Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
