Louis “Lou” Maiello felt honored to drive the former Nancy Kraft home from the fishing adventure sponsored by Rockefeller Center, where she worked as an executive assistant and he was doing construction. It wasn’t long before the couple started dating. A year later they tied the knot on June 16, 1956. “They lived in the Bronx for a couple of years; then they moved to Staten Island. Born on March 4, 1932, in Dunkirk, N.Y., the daughter of the late James and Virginia (Porpiglia) Corsoro, Dorothy was raised in a section of the city formerly known as “Dutch Hill.” She developed a strong work ethic at a very young age by living and working on a farm in the town of Sheridan during the summer months with her mother and ten siblings while her father worked his regular job during the week and joined them on weekends. Following graduation from Dunkirk High School, Class of 1950, she was employed at Cease’s Commissary, the OBSERVER, and the New York State Unemployment Office. She then retired in 1998 after 14 years of service with the Dunkirk Housing Authority.
