(WKBW) — Erie County Medical Center began administering the first COVID-19 vaccinations for their frontline workers on Wednesday. The hospital says Stacey Forgensi a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist at ECMC received the first vaccine, which was administered by Vanessa McDonough, a Licensed Practical Nurse in ECMC’s Center for Occupational and Environmental Medicine. Tommy Thompson today announced additional details to provide incentives to UW students with nursing skills and other health backgrounds to work on the front lines of Wisconsin’s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. The additional details include qualifying criteria, deadlines, and how students can apply. “The UW System has identified a need and is stepping up to help,” President Thompson said. “As Wisconsin deals with this terrible pandemic, the need for health care workers has never been greater.
