Grande Prairie Regional College is stepping out with two new programs to provide a shot in the arm to the Peace Country.
The college will be offering a Health Care Aide certificate program and a Licensed Practical nurse program.

“This is an exciting development that will help grow the great potential within our community,” said GPRC President and CEO Dr. Robert Murray in a written statement. “In addition to equipping students with necessary core competencies, these two programs will enhance the post-secondary journey with unparalleled work-integrated learning opportunities at the new Grande Prairie Regional Hospital and the Evaskevich Centre for Health Research and Innovation.”

Awards for first-time students range from $1,000 up to two full years of tuition
Applications are being accepted until March 31 for College of the Rockies’ Entrance Scholarships.
Available for Canadian citizens or permanent residents who are entering a College of the Rockies program directly from secondary school, these academic awards range from $1,000 up to two full years of free tuition.
“Our Scholastic Distinction Scholarship is available to East Kootenay secondary school students who have achieved a minimum of 85 per cent in their completed grade 11 and 12 academic classes, while our Academic Excellence Entrance Scholarships are available to those who have achieved a minimum 75 percent grade average in grade 11 and 12,” said Lois Murray, College of the Rockies Financial Assistance and Awards Advisor. “Tembec Industries/Rotary Club of Cranbrook Entrance Scholarships are also available for those entering into an approved Apprenticeship trades t
