Andrew Cuomo and state Department of Health Commissioner Dr. Howard Zucker to set up COVID-19 vaccination clinics in Allegany County, citing low vaccination rates in the county.  “This is an urgent need, Borrello said in a statement. Only 7.6 percent of Allegany County residents have received their first dose of the COVID vaccine. That’s the lowest percent in the state. We need to establish state mass vaccination clinics in Allegany County as soon as possible.”

March for Meals in Allegany County to fight hunger in senior community

Wellsville Daily Reporter BELMONT The Allegany County Senior Foundation will join the 19th Annual National Meals on Wheels Campaign in order to generate public awareness about senior hunger and isolation, and to celebrate the invaluable services provided by nutrition programs for the elderly. Meals on Wheels is a public/private partnership. This annual celebration is also intended to showcase the successes of the Older Americans Act, help recruit new volunteers from our community, and increase fundraising from local businesses and supporters. The Senior Foundation invites all members of the Allegany County Community to participate by supporting our month-long campaign, “March for Meals: Dollars for Seniors Donation” at The Shop and Save Grocery stores in Bolivar and Fillmore.

Wellsville school employees receiving COVID-19 vaccine

Close to 60 employees of the Wellsville Central School District have received COVID-19 vaccinations The Wellsville Daily Reporter WELLSVILLE Close to 60 employees of the Wellsville Central School District have received COVID-19 vaccinations, Superintendent Dave Foster told the Board of Education.  A total of 58 employees eligible in phase 1B of the vaccination rollout, a group that includes substitutes, ancillary staff, teachers and administrators, had been immunized at the time of Monday night’s meeting.  Following an internal survey of employees, Foster said around 300 were a firm yes or a possible yes on choosing to receive a vaccine as they become available.  “We got a very good response,” Foster said. “I’m glad to see so many taking advantage of that.”
