Conversations With Friends, has found its cast.
Newcomer Alison Oliver (far left) will star in the upcoming 12-episode series, co-produced by BBC Three in the U.K., opposite Sasha Lane, Joe Alwyn and Jemima Kirke, it was announced Wednesday. It is being eyed for a 2022 premiere on Hulu in the U.S. and will debut on BBC Three and BBC One in the U.K.
Conversations With Friends follows Frances (Oliver), a 21-year-old college student who is observant, cerebral and sharp, as she navigates a series of relationships that force her to confront her own vulnerabilities for the first time. Her ex-girlfriend turned best friend, Bobbi (Lane), is self-assured, outspoken and compelling. Though they broke up three years ago, Frances and Bobbi are inseparable and perform spoken word poetry together in Dublin. Joe Alwyn and Jemima Kirke have been announced as part of the cast for the TV adaption of Sally Rooney s 2017 book Conversations With Friends.
The actor, 29, who is dating singer Taylor Swift, and Girls actress, 35, will play married couple Nick and Melissa in the 12-part BBC and Hulu series.
While newcomer Alison Oliver will play show and book lead Frances with Utopia star Sasha Lane, 25, taking on the role of her best friend and ex-girlfriend Bobbi.
The news comes following the success of Rooney s 2018 novel Normal People which was adapted into a ratings smash hit TV series last year.
Coming off from the critical success of
Normal People, BBC and Hulu have partnered up again to develop a brand new series adaptation based on another novel by Sally Rooney titled
