Texas health officials on Sunday released a list of coronavirus âvaccination hubsâ that will receive the stateâs next shipment of vaccines, but none of those hubs are located in Comal or Guadalupe counties, and new cases continue to mount.
The 28 hubs, located mostly in metropolitan areas, will get 158,825 doses of the vaccine this week, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services. Another 38,300 doses will go to other providers across the state.
The number of doses that each provider is getting is based on its own estimate of how many people it could vaccinate in a week, DSHS officials said.

BEXAR COUNTY, Texas This month is shaping up to be among the riskiest times of the coronavirus pandemic due to more cases in the community.
Almost 25% of all cases in Bexar and Comal counties have been reported in December.
The data could mean more restrictions arriving with the New Year.
Comal County providers have begun receiving doses of the COVID-19 vaccine for administration to first responders and health care workers, public health officials told county commissioners on Tuesday.
Cheryl Fraser, director of public health, told Comal County commissioners during their weekly meeting that 3,700 doses have been allotted to different providers, with 500 of those received and the balance expected to arrive either this week or next week in two different deliveries.
Fraser said, however, that those numbers do not include the nursing homes that have partnered with big-box pharmacies, which are part of a federal distribution system. She added that officials know that pharmacies are also getting vaccines that will be provided to local nursing homes.
