European lawmakers call on the Commission to launch an accelerated infringement procedure and to use all tools in the Court of Justice, such as interim measures and penalties for non-compliance if necessary, the European Parliament said in a statement. They also call on the member states to bring the matter to the CJEU (Court of Justice of the European Union) should the Commission not act, and to launch an inter-state application to the European Court of Human Rights, the statement continued.

2021-07-07 22:05:58 GMT2021-07-08 06:05:58(Beijing Time) Xinhua English BRUSSELS, July 7 (Xinhua) The European Parliament on Wednesday adopted a 30-billion-euro package to fund transport, digital and energy projects until 2027. The European Parliament said in a statement that lawmakers had given the green light to the updated Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) program, allocating more funds for transport infrastructure investments. The facility had been agreed between Parliament and Council in March. The fund covers the period from 2021 to 2027 and will finance projects in the fields of transport, energy, and digital technologies. It will ensure that essential Trans-European projects such as Rail Baltica, alternative fuels charging infrastructure and the roll-out of 5G coverage to important transport axes are finished on schedule by 2030.
