The Brexit trade deal came into effect on January 1 after over nine months of trouble negotiations between the European Union and the United Kingdom. Former Brexit Secretary David Davis warned there are concerning aspects of the agreement he has read so far that could see London pushed into further talks until 2026. Speaking to LBC, Mr Davis said: I’m a bit concerned that, in five and a half years, when we take back control of our fisheries in toto, the Europeans have allowed themselves the right to cancel some of the deal.

The resolution, which was passed by an overwhelming majority, 63-7, also calls on the European Union to end its artificial division of the Lebanese-based group into a military and political wing.
The EU lists only Hezbollah’s military group as a terrorist organisation but not its political wing. Until now, despite the fact that several member states have decided to ban Hezbollah in its entirety – such as Germany, the Netherlands, the UK (when it was still in the EU), Estonia and Autria- the EU still keeps with the distinction between the political and military branches of the shiite organization.

London, Dec 30 (efe-epa).- Members of the United Kingdom’s Parliament on Wednesday voted overwhelmingly in favor of the government’s post-Brexit deal with the European Union.
Following a fast-tracked debate, a total of 521 lawmakers in the House of Commons, the majority of whom took part remotely, voted to write the EU (Future Relationship) into UK law just a day before the Brexit transition period is due to come to a close.
Only 73 MPs, the majority from pro-EU parties, voted against the bill, which now heads for scrutiny in the House of Lords before returning to the Commons for royal assent.

Representatives from the 27 remaining European member states “provisionally” approved the Brexit deal agreed between London and Brussels negotiators on Monday, while Tory Eurosceptics may vote in favour of the deal this week, despite concerns about scrutiny.
Ambassadors form EU member states met in Brussels Monday, and unanimously approved the Brexit deal. The move opens the way for the document to active an January 1st, but the decision is only provisional the Euroepan Parliament will scrutinise the agreement and vote on it in January or perhaps later in 2021, reports the BBC.
The working group of European states is known as the European Council, distinct from the European Parliament, European Commission, and a myriad of other bodies that make up the institutions of the European Union and its associated parts.
