(Photo by OLIVIER DOULIERY/AFP via Getty Images) The National Guard Association is calling on local law enforcement in the nation’s capital to take over for National Guard troops that have been guarding the U.S. Capitol since January. “It’s time for local law enforcement to take it from here,” the National Guard Association (NGAUS) said in a statement. “As General Hokanson stated in his memo earlier this month to senior Pentagon leaders, Guard officials had difficulty finding enough volunteers to continue the mission. This is not due to a reluctance to serve. Not hardly,”  NGAUS Chairman Maj. Gen. Michael McGuire and NGAUS President retired Brig. Gen. J. Roy Robinson said, referring to National Guard Bureau Chief Gen. Daniel R. Hokanson.
