Tinton Falls council members adopt $26.9M municipal budget for 2021 TINTON FALLS – Members of the Borough Council have adopted a $26.9 million budget to fund the operation of Tinton Falls during 2021. The local tax levy – which is the total amount all of the borough’s residential and commercial property owners pay to support the budget – will not increase from 2020. The $26.9 million budget, which was adopted on April 20, will be supported by the collection of $16.2 million in taxes from Tinton Falls’ residential and commercial property owners. Other revenue in the budget includes the receipt of $1.49 million in state aid and the appropriation of $4 million from the borough’s surplus fund (savings).

Fernicola is the motel owner from Point Pleasant Beach who’s been in the news lately because the borough wants to take his property through eminent domain and turn the site into a parking lot. The motel has sparked numerous calls to the police. Members of the Borough Council are arguing that acquiring the site through eminent domain would rid the town of a perennial trouble spot.

Eatontown officials designate borough as stigma-free community EATONTOWN – Members of the Borough Council have passed a resolution which designates Eatontown as a stigma-free community. According to the resolution, a stigma-free community seeks to inspire public interest and to open dialogue about stigma, raise awareness of the disease of mental illness and substance use disorders, and create a culture where residents who have mental illness and/or substance use disorders feel supported by their community and feel free to seek treatment without fear of stigma. The Borough Council’s resolution states that establishing stigma-free communities will raise awareness of resources, have inclusive language and encourage residents to engage in care so recovery can begin and tragedies are avoided.
