ST. PAUL, Minn. (KEYC) - Members of the Minnesota National Guard returned this weekend after being deployed to Washington D.C.
The state sent around 750 soldiers and airmen to help facilitate the inauguration of President Joe Biden. Nearly 400 of them returned home Saturday. The rest arrived Sunday.
“Well, it’s kind of surreal, you know, with the mission that it was, but it’s good to know that the Minnesota National Guard soldiers and airmen are a steadying influence whether it’s here domestically in Minnesota or in D.C.,” says Lt. Colonel Scot Wilcox, Minnesota Air National Guard.
DULUTH, Minn. – Members of the Minnesota National Guard, and personnel in the 148th Fighter Wing are being deployed to Washington D.C. in support of the 59th Presidential Inauguration. There are about 850 troops and airmen from both the Minnesota National Guard and the 148th fighter wing will be in D.C on Wednesday. They will be providing communications, security.
