Kaya Williams/The Snowmass Sun A sense of place is fundamental to the artist community at Anderson Ranch Arts Center. “We are so much about place, we are so much about this space and inviting people in,” said Artistic Director of Painting, Drawing and Printmaking Liz Ferrill, who also oversees the artists-in-program at the campus. “We have been kind of clinging to that from the very beginning.” So in the months after the pandemic hit last March, the wheels were already turning among ranch staff to figure out how to maintain that energy within the parameters of COVID-19 restrictions and public health guidelines.

Aspen doctors help in $6M project to fight malaria in Zambia

Two Aspen doctors are part of a greater $6 million project announced Tuesday to fight malaria in in Zambia and funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Rotary International and World Vision. Doctors Dan Perlman and Bob Porter have been helping the Aspen Rotary Club become more engage in malaria elimination as members on the board of Malaria Partners International, according to a news release from the nonprofit organization.

Save Mid Valley founder and midvalley resident Ken Ransford wanted the September 2017 approval of the project revoked on several grounds. They lost a decision at the district court level in 2019 and by the Colorado Court of Appeals in 2020.

ColoradoBiz Magazine CBCA live-streams annual awards event March 9, 2021 Colorado Business Committee for the Arts (CBCA) brought a new sense of accessibility, creativity and purpose to its annual Business for the Arts Awards. In its 36th year, the statewide event was scheduled for March 9 to honor companies and individuals for their partnerships and engagement with the arts, with a (virtual) twist. The event was live-streamed from the People’s Building in the Aurora Cultural Arts District and featured some pre-recorded performances and videos of honorees. As the state’s art industry grapples with the devastating effects of COVID-19, the event celebrates the resiliency of the arts community and the businesses that continued to lift the community. Not only were Colorado’s art and creative industries hit hard when the pandemic forced the closure of arts and cultural venues, but corporate giving and support to the arts declined significantly in 2020.
