China has strengthened the protection of intellectual property rights and stepped up efforts to crack down on crimes such as infringement and counterfeiting to foster a sound social and business environment.
In the first three months of this year, police nationwide resolved more than 3,800 cases of IPR infringement and counterfeiting, catching about 8,200 suspects, according to data released by the Ministry of Public Security on Friday.
From 2016 to 2020, police across the country cracked more than 90,000 such cases, involving about 47 billion yuan ($7.24 billion). More than 130,000 suspects were captured, ministry figures show.

Muscat: On the 26th of April, the Sultanate will participate in global celebrations for the World Intellectual Property Day (IP), with the slogan ‘IP and SME: Taking your Ideas to Market’, the Ministry of Commerce , Industry and Investment Promotion ( MoCIIP) announced on Saturday.
The next day on 27th April, the Ministry, in collaboration with other ministries, the Sultan Qaboos University and other authorities, will organise a webinar to mark the event. The webinar will highlight ways to support innovative projects and how to take them to the market, in addition to discussing the role intellectual property plays in supporting the small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as well as the role World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in marketing innovative ideas.
