Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin said on Twitter that more than 1,200 party-goers were issued with penalty notices as they left the site, adding that the event s organizers were being identified and would be prosecuted. Some 800 of these people were sanctioned for non-compliance with the curfew, non-wearing of a mask and illegal participation in a rally, said the prefecture of Brittany on Twitter.

Slovenia reports 1,752 new COVID-19 cases, 31 new deaths

1:54 AM MYT LJUBLJANA, Jan. 1 (Xinhua) Slovenia on Friday reported 1,752 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, taking the national tally of confirmed cases to 123,777, according to official figures. A combined 8,914 PCR (polymerase chain reaction) and rapid antigen tests were performed in Slovenia on Thursday. The positivity rate was 35.3 percent for PCR tests, and 6.5 percent for rapid tests. Thirty-one new deaths took the toll to 2,735. The national COVID-19 tracker site Sledilnik shows that there are currently 20,354 active cases in Slovenia. A total of 1,110 patients were in hospital for COVID-19, of whom 188 were in intensive care. Schools and kindergartens will not reopen next week, with pupils in grades one to three and preschoolers perhaps returning on Jan. 11, Education Minister Simon Kustec said at the government press briefing on Thursday.

Spain extends entry ban on travelers from UK

The new coronavirus variant, first reported by the UK, is said to be up to 70 percent more transmissible. Starting from Dec. 22, Spain has suspended entry into its territory of citizens from the UK, except nationals or residents in our country, according to a communique published on Twitter. The entry ban was scheduled to end on Jan. 5.
