The call for Filipinos to wear face masks at their own residences to help prevent the spike of the COVID-19 cases in the country prompted social media to weigh its merits and perceived drawbacks.
The health department earlier this week said that minimum health protocols should be followed in households, especially those with family members who are vulnerable to the virus such as the elderly and those with comorbidities.
“Hindi lang sa public places o workplaces,” Dr.
Althea de Guzman, DOH’s epidemiology bureau chief, said in a public briefing on Monday.
“Pero kinakailangan talaga kahit sa bahay, lalo na ‘pag may kasama tayong matanda o may ibang sakit tulad ng hypertension o diabetes,” she added.

An aircraft belonging to Emirate Airlines made the delivery of about 3.94 million doses of the vaccine, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, in Abuja, part of the jabs that COVAX plans to deliver to the country over the coming months.
On March 5, the government commenced the vaccination of frontline healthcare workers in Abuja, followed by strategic leaders on March 8, whom they described as priority recipients.

No one in Barbados who received the Covishield Oxford AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine has had any adverse reactions, the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) said Friday, as he sought to assure the jab’s safety after a specific batch of the vaccine was held back in some European Union nations based on unconfirmed reports of blood clotting.
CMO Dr Kenneth George said that those who received the India-made vaccine which was donated by the Indian government, have reported only mild side effects, including soreness and redness at the site, while younger people reported feeling unwell for between 24 and 48 hours after the inoculation.
