Saul Canelo Alvarez faces Britain s undefeated Billy Joe Saunders in a world super middleweight unification showdown Saturday with 70,000 spectators expected, the largest US sports crowd since the coronavirus pandemic.
Alvarez will risk his World Boxing Council and World Boxing Association titles at AT&T Stadium while Saunders defends his World Boxing Organization crown at the home of the NFL s Dallas Cowboys in Arlington, Texas.
British boxer Billy Joe Saunders on Tuesday threatened to withdraw from his super middleweight title unification clash with Saul "Canelo" Alvarez after blasting the size of the ring set up at the fight venue in Texas.
24 The streets of Little Haiti gave him his bearings. He knew the neighborhood well enough, at a young age, to avoid the stereotypical traps that landed his father in prison and kept his old friends stuck in the slums of Miami.
“I grew up in a projects building and got food stamps. My father is still in prison, but I never use those moments in my life as excuses,” Daniel Bailey, former Soldier turned professional boxer, said with a prideful smile. “I always told myself because of my circumstances, ‘I had to work harder.’”
The hard work paid off as Bailey took one-step closer to facing top competition when he fought Luis Alvarado in a four-round bout in the Junior Lightweight category (130 pounds). He scored his third knockout victory out of four fights in 18 seconds at Hayes Gym as part of the U.S. Military Academy’s first hosted professional boxing program titled, “Ring City USA,” which was nationally-televised through Twitch and NBC Sports on

A failed doping test by world champion boxer Kazuto Ioka has raised concerns including whether he can properly challenge the result, since no samples were kept for retesting, and the delay in notification.
According to several sources, the positive result involved Ioka, 32, who on Dec. 31 defended his World Boxing Organization’s super flyweight title by defeating fellow Japanese Kosei Tanaka, 25, in an eighth-round technical knockout.
Ioka is the first Japanese boxer to hold championship belts in four weight divisions. The bout and doping test were overseen by the Japan Boxing Commission (JBC).
