Toyota s first-ever hypercar will arrive next year with 735kW

Toyota debuted its all-new GR Super Sport hypercar at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Toyota’s sporty GR family is steadily growing, most recently with the addition of the C-HR GR Sport. At the moment, the seat at the head of the table belongs to the GR Supra but that’s set to change next year with the GR Super Sport, a 735kW monster with Le Mans heritage. That genealogy is no coincidence either, as Toyota is set to replace its TS050 Hybrid endurance racer with a race version of the GR Super Sport to compete in the forthcoming Le Mans Hypercar (LMH) category of the World Endurance Championship, which replaces the current Prototype category.

Toyota GR Super Sport coming next year with at least 1,000 PS, three-motor hybrid setup to feature?

10 May 2021 12:27 pm / 0 comments We’ve been hearing about the Toyota GR Super Sport for a while now, with Toyota very publicly showing its planned flagship several times over the past few years. Now, we’re getting the first proper details of the Le Mans-derived hypercar courtesy of Autocar, including the fact it’s due to be introduced sometime next year. Those following the development of the GR Super Sport will know that the car was first displayed at the Tokyo Auto Salon in 2017 as the new Le Mans Hypercar (LMH) regulations were being drawn up for the World Endurance Championship (WEC). Then, the rules dictated that race cars would need to spawn at least 20 road-going versions, so the Super Sport was to be the descendant of what eventually became the GR010.

Fernando Alonso says improvisation harder in Formula 1

Alonso says improvisation harder in Formula 1 Date published: May 4 2021 In his time away from Formula 1 Fernando Alonso learned that it is harder to improvise in the series because of the “closed environment”. At the end of 2018, Alonso departed Formula 1 to focus on other racing ventures, appearing in the Dakar Rally, IndyCar and most notably finding success in the World Endurance Championship where he became a two-time Le Mans winner. But now the Spaniard has returned to Formula 1 a better driver for the experiences in his eyes, and for Alonso one of the biggest things he noticed was that improvising in Formula 1 is hard because of the “very closed environment”.
