The twin cities are home to thousands of skilled and unskilled workers who trek down from regions like Swat, North Waziristan and Peshawar in search of finding better employment opportunities. Many among them are children, who like their parents, must also contribute to the family income if they are to break bread at day end.
Left with little option, many of these youths find themselves on busy thoroughfares, often running from traffic signal to traffic signal; trying to sell anything ranging from garlands to sanitary products to moving cars.

+ February 15, 2021 CLARK FREEPORT The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has renewed its bid to free more than half a million children who are into child labor.
Lawyer Ma. Karina Trayvilla, director of the Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns, said that while DOLE has yet to receive latest official data on the number of young Filipinos engaged in child labor, the government is nonetheless bent on removing about 630,000 of them from such condition by 2022. We understand that one of the root causes of child labor is poverty, but we are doubling our efforts to eliminate this. We have encountered difficulties in the implementation of the program due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but now we are ready to intensify the profiling of children in the country, Trayvilla said.

Raise Awareness of Child Labour by Music
February 3, 2021
The Music Against Child Labour Initiative, which brings together musicians to raise awareness of child labour, is launching a song competition on 3 February 2021 to mark the UN International Year for the Elimination of Child Labour.
Musicians of all genres are invited to submit a song to inspire governments and stakeholders to take action to eliminate child labour, which affects nearly 1 in 10 children worldwide.
While child labour has decreased by almost 40 per cent over the last two decades, the COVID-19 pandemic threatens to reverse that progress.
The global Music Against Child Labour Initiative, launched in 2013 by the ILO, JM International and the International Federation of Musicians (FIM), together with renowned musicians and key partners from the world of music has two key aims: raising awareness of child labour through music, and empowering children, including children formerly in child labour, through music.
