Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s “once in a century” Union Budget 2021 unveiled a series of far-reaching reforms which is aimed at energizing the Indian economy through a combination of short-term, medium-term, and long- term measures for all aspects of every industry. For stakeholders of the design fraternity, this budget is forward looking. It is indicative of the government’s commitment to the vital complementary aspect of Make in India which is Design in India.
The coronavirus pandemic that loomed ahead prompted the 2020 budget emphasis on Aatmanirbhar Bharat. The budget addressed an aspirational India in which all sections of the society seek better standards of living, with access to health, education and better jobs, economic development for all.
