Obesity is major source of many diseases and death, and Brunei Darussalam is not spared from it.
According to a recent study by the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), the Sultanate recorded an alarming obesity chart, where obesity is the highest in the Southeast Asia region. In addition, another study called the
World Population Review 2019 noted that Brunei is the second highest in this region with 14.1 per cent.
The UNICEF report stated that the prevalence of overweight among all children and adolescents, from infancy to the age of 19, is on the increase almost everywhere globally.
