WBSC adds new member to renamed Diversity and Inclusivity Committee Friday, 12 February 2021
The World Baseball Softball Confederation’s (WBSC) Women’s Development Commission has been renamed as the Diversity and Inclusivity Committee following the appointment of a new member.
The WBSC has also made the move in a bid to promote gender equality in baseball, softball and baseball5.
Donna Cohen is the commission’s newest member and the WBSC hopes to add further new faces.
Cohen is an attorney committed to advancing gender equity in sports, especially baseball, and is considered an influential voice in the women s games.
The American was a spokesperson of the WBSC Women s Baseball World Cup 2018 Trophy Tour and helped arrange promotional activities at several Major League Baseball stadiums.

Japan baseball manager Atsunori Inaba expects the players who won the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Premier12 tournament in 2019 to make up the core of the squad for this year s Olympics.
However, Inaba has identified 180 players who could play a role, and is keen to cast a wide net given all the uncertainty caused by the coronavirus pandemic. Because of the postponement, young players have emerged, Inaba said. I made more than 180 candidates at the staff meeting the other day, but from there to 24, it s a lot of work to squeeze.
Aboriginal pupils to get baseball boost

Young Aboriginal baseball players would receive more support through a program to be implemented by the the Sports Administration next year, the agency said on Thursday.
The program aims to improve the quality of training of Aboriginal players in elementary, junior-high and high schools, and include more government funding for their meal plans, after-school tutoring fees and salaries of coaches, it added.
Previously, a similar program was enforced by the Council of Indigenous Peoples, said the agency, which is part of the Ministry of Education (MOE).
IJF Meets ASOIF Target on Further Review Federation Focus 12/23/20
(ATR) A re-evaluation by the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF) means the International Judo Federation has now met the governance target score that had previously eluded it.

The IJF requested a re-evaluation after it was ranked in Category C, the lowest level, when the third edition of the governance review was released in June.
The second evaluation took place in October.
“The results received from the ASOIF Governance Task Force confirm that the IJF exceeded the target score of 120 that was set for full members of ASOIF,” the federation said in a statement this week.
