WATCH: Paradza s Militia In Violent Clashes With Fellow Zanu PF Youths

By James Muonwa INFORMATION Deputy Minister Kindness Paradza is in the eye of a raging storm after an armed gang linked to the Zanu PF politician fought running battles against fellow party youths in Chinhoyi Saturday. Paradza is the Zanu PF district coordinating committee (DCC) chairperson for Makonde where he is also the local MP. The bloody clashes happened Saturday with Zanu PF youths accusing Paradza of protecting a suspected “G40 mole”, Ketty Chanetsa, who is the Makonde DCC youth secretary. Zanu PF youths are demanding Chanetsa should be removed from her post and expelled from the party, but Paradza is said to be protecting her.

Date Time Groups of Friends on Safety of Journalists issue a statement on Press Freedom This joint statement illustrated the importance given by a growing number of Member States to support a free, independent and pluralistic media landscape, and to uphold freedom of expression and freedom of the press as fundamental human rights. The statement notably payed tribute to the African newspapers journalists who met in Windhoek, Namibia in 1991 and produced a statement of press freedom principles, known as the Windhoek Declaration. On the 30-year anniversary of this Declaration, this joint statement recognized the critical impact of this landmark document, which testified to the international community’s commitment to freedom of the press, and to fostering an enabling environment for journalists and media workers around the world.
