Unique ceramic streets in Lien Mac village

Residents of Lien Mac village in Hanoi’s Bac Tu Liem district have been busy collecting discarded materials such as ceramics, bottles, and dishes to decorate the village’s streets.
Starting in last November, villagers began using use fragments of old vases, dishes, and bowls that had been thrown away to create a ceramic wall along an alleyway. More than 20 mosaic walls have now been completed, helping to beautify the village.

HCM CITY An exhibition showcasing 158 award-winning works from the World Press Photo contest in the Netherlands from 2018 to 2020 has opened at Lê Văn Tám Park in HCM City.
The “Best of Three 2018-2020” exhibition, organised by the Consulate General of the Netherlands in HCM City, features topics such as the environment, climate change, politics, sports, animals and people.
For sports photographer Stephen McCarthy, life has changed dramatically as sport ground to a halt during the pandemic and forced the talented Kerry photographer to seek out new creative opportunities.
But such is the talent of the renowned photographer that the lack of sporting events has not affected the quality of his work, and last week his talent was once again recognised when he was announced as a winner in the prestigious Sports, Singles category in the 2021 World Press Photo Contest, thanks to an image called Home Training . The winning picture, taken last May, during lock-down, features the then-87-year-old Masters athlete Pat Naughton maintaining his daily training regime in his living room at home in Nenagh, Tipperary.

Amsterdam, Mar 10 (efe-epa).- The World Press Photo Foundation on Wednesday unveiled the nominations for Best Photo at this year’s competition, with images captured during the last year by six photojournalists on themes ranging from the fight against a desert locust invasion, the explosion in the port of Beirut, the pandemic’s “first embrace” and the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
The main category of World Press Photo of the Year has nominated the photograph “Lincoln Emancipation Memorial Debate”, by American photojournalist Evelyn Hockstein; along with “Leaving home in Nagorno-Karabakh”, by Russian photographer Valery Melnikov (Sputnik), and “The first embrace”, by Danish photographer Mads Nissen.
