UPDATE: Universal Studios Florida and Universal’s Islands of Adventure at Capacity; Will Not Reopen Later Today
Universal Studios Florida and Universal’s Islands of Adventure both reached capacity earlier this morning at 10:15 AM. Back when the initial announcement was made, Universal Orlando Resort expected to reopen later in the afternoon, however they have now issued an update indicating that a reopening may not be possible:

What is the world s best theme park? We surveyed our newsletter subscribers to find the answer this year, and today we are pleased to announce the finalists that will compete for the Best Theme Park honor in our 20th annual Theme Park Insider Awards.
If you ve already glanced below, you might notice that we are presenting just three finalists in this category. When determining the cutoff to make the finals, I looked for natural breaks in the vote tallies. And in the best park category, three theme parks stood so far ahead of the rest of the pack that it just made no sense to pad the field with extra contenders.
Universal Orlando Hits Capacity for Fourth Day in a Row

It might be 2020, but it s still Christmas week at Orlando s theme parks. And that means parks filling to capacity.
Granted, because of this year s pandemic, that capacity is only about 35 percent of normal operations. But the Universal Orlando theme parks are hitting that new cap, closing the gates at Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure this morning for the fourth day in a row.
