In a year since launch, the Global Esports Federation celebrates more than 110 partnerships including 67 Member Federations, convening at the GEF General Assembly today. The anniversary celebration was further marked by the inaugural edition of the #worldconnected series (#wcs20) and GEFcon. The Board confirmed its commitment to hosting the GEF’s flagship event – the Global Esports Games – in 2021. Full details of the GEG will be announced in the new year, along with new Commissions line up for 2021 to power-up the GEF’s mission to convene the world’s esports ecosystem.
As a further acknowledgement of the rise of esports, the OCA confirmed its place on the sports program for the prestigious Asian Games, with the 19th edition to be held in Hangzhou, China in 2022. The confirmation and announcement came at the 39th OCA General Assembly, held yesterday in Muscat, Oman.
Host City 2020 Explores Post-Covid Landscape Conferences & Conventions 12/10/20
(ATR) Adapting to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and what the future might hold post-crisis were front and center at Host City 2020 this week.

The two-day conference, which began on Dec. 8, is the annual gathering for those involved in the staging of major events for business, sport and culture. Like so many other fixtures on the conferences calendar, Host City 2020 was held in a virtual mode as a result of the pandemic.
Paul Bush, director of events at VisitScotland, one of the conference’s supporting partners, said in his final remarks that among the highlights of Host City 2020 was hearing speakers say events will return… we just don’t know when, how and what shape they will be .
Harnessing the Power of Esports as a Catalyst for Social Benefit and Change 12/10/20
The Global Esports Federation has signed an exploratory agreement with the Invictus Games Foundation to develop a global strategy to harness the power of esports as a catalyst for social benefit and change.
