Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], December 17 (ANI): Government of Karnataka and the British Council have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to further bilateral cooperation in higher education in the presence of Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa here on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said, The two governments are signing a first-of-its-kind three years MoU involving collaboration on leadership development in higher education institutions. India and UK s relationship spans several sectors of cooperation including trade and commerce, education, science and technology, defence and culture.

Bengaluru, Dec 17 : Britain will help Karnataka in developing leadership in higher education centres and strengthen research exchange between the two partners, said an official on Thursday. The British Council has signed an agreement with the Karnataka government to collaborate on leadership development in higher education institutions, said the official after visiting UK Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab met state Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa at the state secretariat in the city centre.

Singapore has unveiled its plan to sustain investments of about 1% of the country’s gross domestic product (GDP), equal to $25b, for research, innovation, and enterprise activities from 2021 – 2025.
Deputy Prime Minister and National Research Foundation (NRF) Chairman Heng Swee Keat announced the plan at the launch of the Research, Innovation, and Enterprise (RIE) 2025 plan.
The plan seeks to build on the progress of previous RIE investments, as the government has identified that science and technology (S&T) will be key to Singapore’s ability to meet future challenges and to respond to shifts in the global economy.
Singapore trialling digital documentation with 2 Chinese ports to cut paperwork
Singapore is currently trialling digital documentation with two ports in China – Qinzhou and Tianjin – to facilitate trade by reducing the amount of paperwork involved in cross-border trade, Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat said yesterday.
The trials come as part of Singapore’s move to build its Networked Trade Platform, which will allow for electronic exchanges of documents needed for import and export, Mr Heng added at a virtual press conference after the 16th Joint Council for Bilateral Cooperation between Singapore and China.
Singapore launched the Networked Trade Platform initiative in 2018 to cut back on the paperwork involved in cross-border trade and reduce the time needed for import and export of goods, among other benefits.
