Country manager at Cable and Wireless, Stephen Price; has lauded the growth of the Global Services Sector (GSS) which continues to strive during the pandemic.
Price believes the third annual Outsource2Jamaica conference and expo planned for June 11 and 12, will be a catalyst for the continued growth of the sector.
Speaking at the virtual launch of the event recently, Price pointed to the industry’s potential.
“Jamaica is an in-demand nearshore location which offers the right people and a robust network critical component and is seen as the next best hub for GSS,” he noted.
Highlighting the hit the sector took last year from the pandemic, Price pointed to the opportunities for the island as the best nearshore location for the Caribbean and the English-speaking North American markets.

Lifespan Company has added a batch of igloos to the inventory of supplies that will be used at the vaccination centres islandwide as the Ministry of Health and Wellness continues its rollout of the national vaccination plan (NVP).
This donation is part of the private sector mobilisation effort being managed by the Private Sector Vaccine Initiative (PSVI), a mechanism set up to support the Government as it works towards achieving population immunity by March 2022.
President of the GSAJ, Gloria Henry, says investors who have attended the previous conferences have since started businesses in Jamaica.
The third annual Outsource2Jamaica 2021 Conference and Expo is expected to connect international investors with local service providers within the Global Services Sector (GSS), which continues to make a significant contribution to Jamaica’s economic development.
The event is being organised by the Global Services Association of Jamaica (GSAJ) and will be held on June 11 and 12, under the theme, “Back to the Future”.
It is expected to bring together a diverse group of global experts, local entrepreneurs, government officials, sector leaders, buyers and service providers.
