AIADMK co-coordinator and Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami’s promises of six free LPG cylinders annually per household and ₹1,500 a month to homemakers has turned the focus on the ruling party’s 2016 Assembly election manifesto.
The AIADMK government’s performance, in relation to the 2016 manifesto, is a mixed bag.
While it has implemented several promises and has also taken some measures beyond the manifesto, it has not taken action on several others that had captured widespread attention then.

The partnership between the Department of Ayurveda, Himachal Pradesh, and Frankfurt Biotechnology Innovation Centre (FIZ), Germany, for research in the field of ayurgenomics and ayurnutrigenomics is yet to move beyond paper work. “The collaboration is at standstill due to the pandemic. We will contact the Germans once the situation improves,” said Ayurveda Director DK Rattan.
An MoU was signed between the two institutes on the sidelines of the Global Investors’ Meet in Dharamsala in November 2019. Prior to that in June, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur had visited Frankfurt and signed a generic MoU with FIZ.
With the Chief Minister showing interest in the potential of the collaboration, things moved rather quickly in the beginning. By November, a working group, comprising professors and lecturers from Rajiv Gandhi Postgraduate Ayurvedic College, Paprola, was formed and it was given the mandate to follow-up with FIZ and identify specific collaborative pr
TN realises more than 82 per cent of investment MoUs
December 30, 2020 The conversion rate of MoUs into actual projects during the last ten years was 82.4 per cent in Tamil Nadu.
Between 2011 and 2019, the State government had signed 500 MoUs envisaging investment commitment of ₹5.97-lakh crore. Out of these, 412 MoU projects have either commenced commercial production or are in various stages of implementation representing a conversion rate of 82.4 per cent, said a State government statement.
The conversion rate of 98 MoUs signed during GIM (Global Investor Meet) 2015 was 72 per cent and that of the 304 MoUs signed during GIM 2019 was 89 per cent.
The conversion rate refers to projects that have commenced commercial production or are in various stages of implementation such as purchase of land, application for clearances or trial production, as a percentage of the total number of MoU projects, the statement said.
