After maliciously claiming that the coronavirus comes from China, a German children s book has sparked outrage in the Chinese community in Germany. The Chinese consulate in Hamburg has lodged solemn representations against the publisher and several Chinese residents threatened to take legal actions.
The Chinese community believes a simple apology is not enough and asked for the recall of the book.

The Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council slammed rumors that the Chinese mainland pressured German Biotech company BioNTech (BNT) not to sell COVID-19 vaccines to the island, saying that the Taiwan authorities complaint of a so-called difficult situation is untenable and results from its own anti-mainland political maneuvers.
The allegation of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authority is totally fabricated and false, which once again exposed the bottomless political nature of some DPP politicians, said Ma Xiaoguang, a spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, at a press conference on Thursday.

A patrol ship in the Taiwan Straits, developed by the China Shipbuilding Industry Corp (CSIC), held its launching ceremony on Monday, and will become China s largest maritime patrol rescue vessel in the Straits after it is commissioned.
The Taiwan Straits is a high-risk area for water traffic accidents in China, and is also a key supervised sea area identified by China s Ministry of Transport. The large patrol rescue ship s presence in the Straits can help safeguard the nation s territorial sea sovereignty and maritime rights and interests.
