MCLEAN, Va., May, 2021 Iridium Communications Inc. (NASDAQ: IRDM) today announced that it has made a strategic investment in DDK Positioning (DDK), an Aberdeen, Scotland based provider of enhanced Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) accuracy solutions. DDK uses the Iridium
® network to provide global precision positioning services that can augment GNSS constellations, including GPS and Galileo, to significantly enhance their accuracy for critical industrial applications. DDK is also developing similar services for other GNSS constellations, such as GLONASS and Beidou. Terms of the investment are not being disclosed.

Fischer Panda UK’s electric drive system and generators will power the world’s first fully automated vessel, the Mayflower Autonomous Ship (MAS), when it sets sail on its historic maiden voyage across the Atlantic this June.
Propelling the 5-ton, 50ft trimaran during the 3,000 mile-crossing from Plymouth, England, to Plymouth, Massachusetts, the Fischer Panda UK equipment will play a key role in the success of the inspirational project to test and advance innovative AI and data-gathering technology which promises to transform ocean-related industries in the future.
The robot research vessel, developed by marine research organisation ProMare with IBM acting as lead technology and scientific partner for the project, was launched on 16th September last year and has undergone several months of sea trials.

Iridium is making an undisclosed investment in
DDK Positioning (DDK), which offers Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) accuracy solutions.
DDK is a Scotland-based company that uses the Iridium network to provide high precision GPS that can increase the accuracy of GNSS constellations like GPS and Galileo. Iridium reports that DDK’s augmentation service can increase the accuracy of positioning from 10 meters to 5 centimeters or less. The company said this is applicable for use cases like autonomous vehicles and driverless cars, precision agriculture, and infrastructure.
DDK CEO Kevin Gaffney said the investment will allow the company to grow and expand service globally.
