An estimated 2,600 houses and other structures fall within 30 feet of the Orangi Nullahâs way on both sides, an NED University survey has indicated to the Sindh government.The university team undertook a hydrologic and hydraulic analysis of the nullah as part of a greater study on all of Karachiâs stormwater drains. THE Acting Prime Minister has met with North Queensland transport officials to hear their concerns about the unreliable Bruce Highway. With major flooding and a number of serious crashes between Mackay and Cairns since Christmas, transport companies have been forced to a standstill. On Tuesday, Hinchinbrook Shire Council had to set up a staging area for travellers and truck drivers stranded as flooding closed the highway. Last week, ex-Tropical Cyclone Imogen caused days of issues between Townsville and Cairns, with road closures in multiple spots. When the Townsville Bulletin asked if the federal government would consider spending more money on flood mitigation on the Bruce Highway, the acting PM said there were already conversations happening with transport industry representatives.

New Delhi: The Narendra Modi-led Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) Wednesday cleared the much awaited Rs 48,000-crore deal for 83 LCA (Light Combat Aircraft) Tejas aircraft, which will see a greater collaboration between state-owned Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and private firms as part of âMake in Indiaâ.
With the CCS now clearing the deal, the Indian Air Force (IAF) is expected to sign a contract with HAL next month when Indiaâs air show Aero India takes off in Bengaluru.
