Liberia: Journalist for Human Rights Launches Mentoring Program to Combat Human Rights Violations, Misinformation amid COVID-19 Fight Liberia: Journalist for Human Rights Launches Mentoring Program to Combat Human Rights Violations, Misinformation amid COVID-19 Fight Share Monrovia – At least 15 Liberian journalists representing electronic and print media houses have converged in Monrovia to undergo a five-month mentoring program aimed at combating COVID-19 related misinformation and other forms of human rights violations in the country, especially during the course of the fight against the pandemic. The initiative is under the auspices of the “Mobilizing Media to Fighting COVID-19 (MMFC) project” initiated by Journalists for Human Rights (JHR), a Canada-based charity organization.

Abuja, 12 May, 2021 - With the imminent accelerated Polio Programme ramp down in Nigeria, the World Health Organization’s (WHO’s) Country Representative (WR) Dr Walter Kazadi Mulombo has taken his advocacy train on the implementation of the Polio Transition Plan to Mallam Muhammed Musa Bello, the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. The meeting held on 11 May 2021 at the Minister’s Conference Room comes on the heels of the accelerated polio ramp down plan which means that with polio-free status, WHO will no longer receive funding for the polio programme from the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) starting January 2022.

Garneau quarantine travel raises rule questions © Provided by The Canadian Press OTTAWA Plans for Canada s foreign affairs minister to take his second international trip in less than a month have raised questions around what s allowed for those in quarantine and a discrepancy between what Canadians are told and what regulations say.  Marc Garneau s office says he s in quarantine after returning from a G7 ministers meeting in the United Kingdom last week.  It says he arrived back in Canada on May 6, and stayed for two nights in a government-approved hotel in Montreal, as required by Ottawa for those entering the country by air to prevent further spread of COVID-19.
