“Canada sends its deepest condolences to the families and friends who lost a loved one in the building collapse in Surfside, Florida,” spokesman Grantly Franklin said in an emailed statement.
“Global Affairs Canada can confirm that the remains of two Canadian citizens were found at the site. At least two other Canadian citizens remain unaccounted for.”

In response to the ongoing challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic in South Asia, Canada is delivering additional COVID-19-related medical supplies to Pakistan and Nepal.
Today, the Honourable Karina Gould, Minister of International Development, the Honourable Harjit S. Sajjan, Minister of National Defence, and the Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Health, announced that Canada is sending ventilators and personal protective equipment (PPE) to Pakistan and Nepal.
The shipment will include 162 ventilators and related equipment for Pakistan, and 27 ventilators and related equipment, and over 16,000 units of PPE for Nepal. These supplies will be sourced from Canada’s National Emergency Strategic Stockpile.

Canada remains deeply concerned by the ongoing conflict in the Tigray region of Ethiopia and the resulting humanitarian crisis that continues to worsen.
Today, the Honourable Marc Garneau, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the Honourable Karina Gould, Minister of International Development, announced that Canada is providing an additional $7 million in humanitarian funding to the World Food Programme, the Ethiopia Humanitarian Fund, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and the International Committee of the Red Cross to support humanitarian operations in Ethiopia.
