Parole officer charged in alleged ‘ticket switch fraud’ case ×
On Dec. 11, law enforcement arrested and charged 41-year-old Jersey City resident Jorge Ortega, a New Jersey Parole Officer, with Theft by Deception.
According to a press release from the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office, the arrest comes after an investigation by the HCPO’s Public Integrity Unit, Internal Affairs Section in conjunction with the North Bergen Police Department.
According to the press release, the investigation revealed that between July and October of this year Ortega allegedly used the commonly-called “ticket switch fraud” to change the labels on various higher value items for lower value items at a Target on Tonnelle Ave. in North Bergen.
