State Minister for Provincial Councils and Local Government Roshan Ranasinghe yesterday (28) denied Media Minister and Co-Cabinet spokesman Keheliya Rambukwella’s statement that several lawmakers, including him, had visited Japan to participate in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Opening with the help of the private sector.  In a statement issued on behalf of Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa and State Ministers, D.V. Chanaka and Thenuka Vidanagamage, State Minister Ranasinghe said there was absolutely no basis for the claim. Minister Rambukwella declared that the private sector had funded the ministers visit, when the media asked whether lawmakers were visiting Japan at the taxpayers’ expense.
