Police say a person found lying in the road on North Denver Avenue was struck and killed by a driver who fled the scene.
Portland Police Bureau officers are investigating a deadly hit-and-run crash in the Kenton neighborhood.
Authorities say officers were dispatched around 6:38 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 9, following reports of a person seen laying in the road on North Denver Avenue near the North Columbia Boulevard overpass.
Police arrived and found an unconscious person, and paramedics soon determined the individual was dead at the scene.
Police believe the person was struck by a vehicle that drove off before officers arrived. No suspect information was released, and no arrests have been made.

In an ongoing effort to empower our community with public safety information, the Portland Police Bureau is unveiling an improved interactive dashboard offering data about shootings in the city. The new dashboard offers information at the neighborhood level so anyone interested may have access to the information most relevant for them, the bureau announced on Saturday, Jan. 9.

On the first day of school in a new building during an already unusual year, students and staff at Pershing Park Elementary School expressed grateful relief to open their brand-new building.
Students occupied the new school for the first time Wednesday, the start of the spring semester in Killeen ISD.
âOur kids are super excited,â said Pershing Park Principal Jessica Taylor. âOur parents have been amazing, driving up, wishing us a happy new year.â
Much of the past semester, school staff members packed up the now-closed Pershing Park Elementary School that first opened in 1962.
The new building is adjacent to the old one on Central Texas Expressway in Killeen. It features two stories, as well as stairwell learning spaces, added classroom technology, flex furniture and a full indoor gym.
