Cross River LG, Biase, budgets N3.2bn for 2021 fiscal year On By Emma Una – Calabar Biase Local Government Council Chairman, Mrs Oma Egwu, on Monday announced a budget estimate of N3,222,023,847.00 (three billion, two hundred and twenty two million, twenty three thousand, eight hundred and forty seven naira) for the 2021 fiscal year. Christened “Budget of Collaboration”,  the Chairman said the budget  is so named because the council wants to collaborate with relevant agencies to shore up development and increase revenue generation in the council area. “Budget of Collaboration  presupposes   that it is  to address any imbalance, drive down dividends of democracy to the grassroots and considering our dwindling resources,  there must be collaboration with relevant/ critical stakeholders like Cross River State Government, Ministry of Local Government Affairs, MDAs, the rural populace”

The protesters under the aegis of Owode-Egba Youths Development Movement, carried placards with inscriptions such as ‘End darkness in Owode-Egba’, ‘We are tired of darkness in Owode-Egba’, ‘We say no to estimated billing’, ‘IBEDC is killing our businesses’, and ‘IBEDC light up Owode-Egba’, walked through major streets of the town, chanting anti-establishment songs. According to the protesters, the main injection power transformer that supplies electricity to about 32 communities in the town got burnt since August, 2020, saying all their efforts to ensure the transformer is replaced by Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) has failed to yield any positive result.

Kaduna establishes 300 nutrition corners in health facilities to combat malnutrition On Kindly Share This Story: The Kaduna State Government has established no fewer than 300 nutrition corners in health facilities across the 23 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state as part of strategies to fight malnutrition. Mr Umar Bambale, Project Manager, Kaduna State Emergency Nutrition Action Plan (KADENAP), made this known in an interview with newsmen in Kaduna on Wednesday. Bambale explained that the nutrition corners were being used for food demonstration to teach women and caregivers how to prepare nutritious meals using available food items. He said that the feat was achieved following the monthly release of N1 million by each local government area through the Ministry for Local Government Affairs for implementation of nutrition programmes in the LGAs.
