SFUSD Board approves short-term budget for 2021-22
July 8, 2021
All San Francisco Unified School District schools will be fully open Aug. 16, 2021, and will experience a significant boost from a $75.8 million Public Education Enrichment Fund (PEEF). A chunk of these federal monies will guarantee that every SFUSD school has a library and a credentialed librarian, and every student has access to a nurse or social worker. At the LBUSD Board of Education’s most recent meeting on June 23, the board unanimously approved the district’s $1.12 billion budget for 2021-22, as well as its Local Control and Accountability Plan, its blueprint for how it will spend locally controlled money.
After a year-long budget process, the board and LBUSD executive staff were united in talking about a need to simplify things to make it easier for the public to understand the district’s finances. Some programs, such as English Learner Support, are funded from multiple sources, which makes it difficult to track exactly how much is being spent on students.

Yount was one of four finalists with elementary teaching experience and had been the districtâs Chief Business Official since 2018.
âThank you, board of trustees. I look forward to continue serving the board, the community of Galt. I also want to thank Dr. Schauer for her leadership. Sheâs been a great role model for me. Iâm excited about it. I look forward to the hard work. This is a wonderful district that does great things.
