As the 20th century unfolded, new electronic forms of media such as film, radio, and television became incredibly useful tools to glorify the colonizer’s agenda while undermining the historical legacy of the First Nations people. The demonization and stereotyping of Indigenous people disseminated in cowboy stories and popular western movies and TV shows became insidious. Toronto Dr. Christy Natsis, who received a six-month suspension from practicing dentistry in relation to her conviction in the death of an Ottawa man, received a scathing reprimand by the Royal College of Dentists and Surgeons of Ontario last week.
The reprimand will be part of her official record for as long as she practices dentistry. It contained statements citing her behaviour as disgraceful, dishonourable, unprofessional and unethical.

She met her husband, Lorne, in Powell River, B.C. and the couple moved to Jasper in November of 1953, after they got married. An outdoor rink at Robson Park will provide affordable skating opportunities for members of the community.
Members of the Jasper Fire Department have been flooding the ice regularly since Jan. 28. The rink was scheduled to open Feb. 6 but had to close that same day as more preparatory work was needed.
“The outdoor rink was a community-driven rink and has been a collaborative project involving a number of folks,” said Greg Van Tighem, director of protective services with the Municipality of Jasper, in a text.
