The final budget was approved by the legislature during the 60-day session. It was larger than the governor s original budget recommendation.   Here are the key takeaways:  Spending will increase 5% over the amended fiscal year 2021 budget, with 36% of new General Fund spending going to education initiatives Budget includes 1.5% raises for public school and higher ed personnel, as well as state employees and frontline health and social service workers $30.7 million increase to the Human Services Department to expand mental health and substance use disorder services

Albuquerque-based installation and wholesale firm Affordable Solar plans to double its local manufacturing and administrative headquarters with $625,000 in Local Economic Development Act funding. The state Economic Development Department, which pledged $500,000 for the expansion, announced the award Thursday morning. The city of Albuquerque, which will act as fiscal agent, will provide another $125,000, pending approval by the city council. “Albuquerque is becoming an important hub for the alternative energy industry and supporting Affordable Solar means we can help the climate and grow good manufacturing jobs right here in New Mexico,” Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham said in a prepared statement.

   ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The State of New Mexico and the City of Albuquerque have pledged economic assistance, contingent upon approval by the Albuquerque City Council, so that Affordable Solar can double the size of its Albuquerque fabrication facility and corporate headquarters. Affordable Solar, established in New Mexico in 1998, offers large-scale solar and energy storage integration throughout the Western United States. The company has seen rapid growth with its technologies and plans to scale up business as state and national policies boost renewable energy and combat climate change.
