Major push to roll out full fibre network boost

CONNECTION: Mere Hall, Mere Hall Street, Bolton NINE charitable sites across Bolton are set to become part of a major initiative to boost the borough s communications capabilities. Under the government s Local Full Fibre Network (LFFN) programme, 25 per cent of the funding was awarded to Greater Manchester for a network of 1,300 public sites. This would increase the region s full fibre coverage, for the internet and wifi, from around two per cent to 25 per cent of the area, councillors in Bolton have been told. Part of that scheme will see no fewer than 91 locations in Bolton, where full fibre coverage is just 0.84 per cent, benefit from installations.
