The Colorado Apartment Association reported the state s rent collection rate was 96.7 percent as of April 27, 0.5 percent lower than rent collections from the previous year, with a 96.2 percent rate recorded in April 2020, according to data analytics firm RealPage. Â
The state has outperformed national rates since tracking rental payments began in April 2020, according to a release from the CAA. According to the National Multifamily Housing Councilâs (NMHC) Rent Payment Tracker, 95% of apartment households in the United States paid rent in the month of April, 1.7 percentage points below Coloradoâs rent collection rate, the release said.
âA 96.7% collection rate in April continues to show us that Colorado residents are able to receive rental assistance, work with their rental housing providers and pay their rent, therefore, the system is working,â Mark Williams, executive vice president of the Colorado Apartment Association, said in the release. â

Craig homeowner states she is not in negotiations with Housing First Alliance
A homeowner whose address was suggested last week by Housing First Alliance of Craig as the potential new location for a proposed homeless shelter said it’s just not true that she was in negotiations with the organization for her property.
Michele Munfreda is selling her home in the 800 block of Tucker Street due to a family situation that is causing her to leave the area.
Before information was released by the Housing First Alliance of Craig last week claiming they were eyeing Munfreda’s property as the possible location for its proposed homeless shelter, she and her real estate agent Judy Bingham couldn’t keep up with all of the showings for the house.

The fact that there is a lot of fraud in other programs that have been rolled out, I think that it makes sense that emergency rental assistance was chosen (for) a discretionary audit, said Alison George, director of the Division of Housing, during the monthly state housing board meeting on May 11.
