Home Minister Amit Shah reviews law and order in Delhi
A day after farmers tractor rally turned violent in Delhi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday took stock of the security situation and measures taken to ensure peace in the city, officials said.
Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla and senior officers of the Ministry of Home Affairs and Delhi Police attended the meeting.
The home minister reviewed the law and order situation in Delhi, which witnessed violence during the farmers tractor rally on Tuesday, a Home Ministry official said.
Mr Shah was also briefed by the officials about the steps taken to ensure peace in the national capital, the official said.

The ninth round of talks between protesting farmer unions and three central ministers to break the over-a-month-long deadlock on the three new agri laws ends. Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, Railways, Commerce and Food Minister Piyush Goyal and Minister of State for Commerce Som Parkash, who is an MP from Punjab, held the talks with the representatives of around 40 farmer unions at the Vigyan Bhawan.

Centre must come forward now to consider farmers demand, says ex-law minister
Former Union Law Minister Ashwani Kumar reacted after Supreme Court s judgment to stay all three farm laws until further order and said the nation will expect lots from SC to solve humanitarian problems, but essentially it seems the matter of the policy. I do not know to what extent the Supreme Court eventually able to resolve the matter. The responsive government must come forward now to favourably consider the demand of the farmers, Ashwani Kumar told ANI. Supreme Court has decided according to its wisdom and I think the nation will expect lots from the Supreme Court in order to solve the humanitarian problem. I hope the farmer organisations will respond to the gesture of the Supreme Court but essentially it seems the matter of the policy, Mr Kumar added.
The protesting farmers today announced tractor rally towards Delhi on Republic Day as demonstrations around the national capital's borders escalate. "We have given a call for a tractor parade towards Delhi on January 26. Tractor parade with national flag on January 26 will be called ''Kisaan Parade'', said farmer leader Darshan Pal.
