INDIANAPOLIS There are 50 hospitals and clinics on the state’s list to receive the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine this week. It’s the start of a massive vaccine rollout across the country with a lot of moving parts.
Five Indiana hospitals were part of the initial rollout. IU Health Methodist Hospital administered the first shot Wednesday. In the coming weeks, dozens of other hospitals will be included. The state’s goal is to vaccinate all 400,000 frontline health care workers first.

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) There are close to 400,000 health care workers in Indiana.
The state is expected to receive 350,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine in the next 16 days. This week, five primary hospitals, including IU Health Methodist Hospital, and 50 additional hospitals and clinics are expected to receive a few thousand doses that will be given first to frontline staff who work directly with COVID-19 patients.
The very first batches of vaccine arrived in Indiana on Monday morning and were administered just after noon in Fort Wayne to health care workers.
Dr. Ram Yeleti of Community Health Network told I-Team 8 that some of the first people to receive the vaccination are health care workers and those in long-term health care facilities.

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Some healthcare workers in Indiana could get the COVID-19 vaccine as early as Monday. Parkview Health in Fort Wayne said it expects to start with a small number of their health care workers receiving the vaccine on Monday and then begin mass distributions on Tuesday.
The health system said they anticipate receiving a shipment of about 2,000 doses of the vaccine this week and around 8,000 doses next week.
Parkview is one of the five Indiana hospitals receiving vaccine doses. IU Health Methodist Hospital will also be getting the first, very limited number of vaccines. However, at this point, no Indianapolis hospitals have made it clear as to when they will receive and start distributing the COVID-19 vaccine.
