There Is No Off-Season for the NFL, Including Its Inspire Change Program
As its teams welcome a new class of dynamic talents into the League during the 2021 NFL Draft in Cleveland, the NFL kicks off a season-long commitment to bridging the Digital Divide.
It has been said that the NFL doesn’t really have an off-season. Nothing illustrates this better than the fact that April’s NFL Draft has become a three-day prime time must-see-TV event.
It is the culmination of a million mock drafts. It is where college football meets pro football. It is where every fan can dream of their team finding the next franchise player, building a fearsome defense, or adding a fast-twitch athletic marvel to its backfield or receiving corps. It is where the League’s next generation of hopeful stars are introduced to the fanbase.
2021 Big Draft: BBBS, NFL Team Up to Recruit Next Generation of Bigs
Big Brothers Big Sisters of America (BBBSA) is proud to announce the kickoff of the 2021 Big Draft. Big Brothers Big Sisters is teaming up with the National Football League’s (NFL) Inspire Change initiative to recruit mentors for youth across America.
While the NFL will be drafting players in just a few short weeks, the search for potential Bigs is just getting started. Currently, there are 65 local children waiting for a volunteer, called a “Big.”
“Our ability to team up with the NFL and their Inspire Change initiative allows us to, not only spread our message and a wider audience of possible mentors,” said Donna Bennett, president and CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cumberland & Salem Counties. “With The Big Draft, aligning with National Volunteer Month, we are hoping those in our community see the benefits of mentorship/volunteering and decide to take action in our community.”

Mobile health technology may be a good way to help older adults with a diagnosis of CVD to change behavior and comply with medications, but the research into how best to accomplish this is far from clear, according to a new scientific statement from the American Heart Association.
“There are studies that are happening that are very disparate in what they re measuring, in the devices that they re using, and in the outcomes that they re focused on,” writing committee chair Erica N. Schorr, PhD, RN (University of Minnesota School of Nursing, Minneapolis), told TCTMD. Additionally, only three of the 26 studies that she and her colleagues evaluated were exclusively focused on patients over age 60, making it difficult to interpret which interventions work best for secondary prevention in older patients.

In Sonya Ulibarri s eyes, International Women s Day is only half about celebration.
The other half, Girls Inc. of Metro Denver s CEO and president says, is about action. International Women s Day is an opportunity to celebrate the contributions that girls and women make across the globe, Ulibarri says, and throughout Women s History Month, we recognize that these achievements are not new but have been made by women throughout history. IWD is also a call to action to continue the work toward gender equity, highlight the challenges that women and girls face locally and globally, and progress toward a more just and safe world for women and girls.
