DEENA DEGNER AND NIAH INGRAHAM EARN WISCONSIN 4-H KEY AWARD
Deena Degner of Wonewoc Badgers 4-H Club and Niah Ingraham of Blackhawk 4-H Club have been selected as the Juneau County, Wisconsin 4-H Key Award winners for this year. The Key Award presentations took place at the Juneau County 4-H Walk-Through Recognition Program held on January 31, 2021 at the Lyndon Station VFW.
The prestigious Key Award, one of the highest recognition a 4-H member can receive, honors a select group of 4-H participants annually. The youth receiving this award are ones who have demonstrated consistent growth in their 4-H involvement, developed and applied their leadership skills, and actively participated in their club and community.
New legislative and budget proposals could create more UW-Madison Division of Extension agents, who exemplify the Wisconsin Idea by bringing university research to agricultural communities across Wisconsin.

University of Wisconsin System President Tommy Thompson today told farm owners, agriculture and dairy officials, and researchers that the System’s effort to add agriculture extension agents is another illustration of the renewed Wisconsin Idea. Thompson spoke to the 2021 Wisconsin Agribusiness Classic on the final day of its annual conference. It is Wisconsin’s largest agriculture industry conference, now in its 60
th year. “There is a long history of the University of Wisconsin working closely with Wisconsin’s agriculture and dairy industries,” Thompson said. “From the beginning, our commitment to the Wisconsin Idea has been linked to agriculture and dairy – working to help solve the challenges facing Wisconsin farmers.”

URBANA, Ill. – Beef producers face growing criticism from environmental groups over cattle s impact on the planet s health. Being able to separate fact from fiction over livestock emissions gives producers the science they need to engage in positive discussions on livestock and climate change.
Frank Mitloehner, professor and air quality specialist at UC-Davis is the keynote speaker at the virtual 2021 Driftless Region Beef Conference set for Jan. 26 to 28.
