BHOPAL: A schoolgirl’s heroism saved two of the only six persons who survived the Sidhi bus tragedy on Tuesday morning. Shivrani Lunia, 18, lives in a canalside hut in Sarda village and saw the bus plunge into the water. She didn’t hesitate even a second and dived into the 40-ft-deep canal as it turned out, seconds are what separated life and death.
She found a woman gasping for air, wrapped an arm around her and swam with her to the canal bank, say sources. Leaving her in the care of villagers, she jumped back into the canal, and this time brought a man to safety.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each for kin of those who have lost their lives in the Sidhi bus accident on Tuesday. PM Narendra Modi has approved an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each from Prime Minister`s National Relief Fund for the next of kin of those who have lost their lives due to the bus accident in Sidhi, Madhya Pradesh. Rs 50,000 would be given to those seriously injured, Prime Minister s Office tweeted on Tuesday.
